Attacking chests and objects?

Hi everybody!

I hope that ppl still playing this great game. I just picked it up and is having a great time.

I had a question, maybe answered before and kinda stupid but....

I cannot attack objects or jammed/locked chests. Is the game made that way or is it just me.

For instance in shrouded hills there is a steam engine to destroy but I could not destroy it, had to blow it up using dynamite.
I should be able to use force to open a chest or container but nothing happens when I try to attack them. If I jam a lock I should be able to bash it open, no?

Sorry did a search and found it! using alternate attack alt+attack. Thankyou everybody for a superb forum.
