http://www.fictionmatters.com/2009/06/0 ... ead-at-77/ http://www.sfcrowsnest.com/news/arc/2009/nz14000.php This, along with Robert Jordan being dead and Terry Pratchett gradually succumbing to the horrors of Alzheimer's, simply means that we've reached that point in time when the old guard of post-Tolkien fantasy authors are dropping off. Read some of Eddings' books in high school. Thought him pretty good, at least back then. Dunno if I could stomach them now though, as I recall them being fairly simplistic.
I actually really, really liked his early books. He newer "New/Old Gods" stuff was complete shit though. That's too bad though. Everybody should go read L.E. Modesitt Jr. now instead.
Haven't read "new/old gods", but I have read basically everything else he has written. I remembered liking the lot of them. Great author.
I read a few of his books in High School. They weren't the best fantasy books I ever read, but they were far from the worst. (a.k.a. I kinda liked 'em) That sucks. Another good author, gone.
Wow. I don't think an author's death has bothered me this much since Adams passed. RIP Mr Eddings. Losing Eddings and Carradine so close together leaves me feeling a bit low.
Remember when Santa Claus died and it turned out we are all adopted and that person we were in love with loved someone else.
