The younger crowd wouldn't know them, of course, but they pretty much defined Terra-Arcanum back in the day. It's just right and proper to have the admin group named after them.

A guy that calls himself Taluntain owns the server, but it could very well be that DU is paying him to host us. The specifics of the economics of this place has always escaped me, for whatever reason.

We can all help out by clicking the ads on a regular basis though.

Pretty much. After Gamer's Alliance folded, Taluntain got his own server. I moved this site to a few more free hosts which all crapped out, and then moved it to his, with the standard "you place ads, no hosting fee" dealio.

I moved it to DU's Dotster account. He paid for 5 years in advance when Jinxed was difficult to reach and the domain was about to expire, after that I got Jinxed's domain login info and gave the domain to DU. Not sure when the 5 years he paid for will expire; I paid for the domain until I gave it to Jinxed and he paid for 1 or 2 years, but I'm not sure when all that was and can't be arsed to look it up.

Domains aren't all that expensive though.

Also, slightly more elaboration on why we're on Taluntain's server now: the main reason I trust Taluntain even though I've been burned on these "free hosting for ads" deals more times than I care to admit, is that Taluntain got this server for the very same reason - he hired it mainly because he was sick & tired of having to look for a new host for sorcerers.net every time some crappy gaming network folded.

True enough, I've seen prices as low as USD 6.90 / year for a .com domain.

If I'm still alive I'll be a brain in a jar or a some kind of software transfer of my consciousness. Not sure which sounds less appealing really.

I think I'd pick the jar though.

I don't like it. I really don't like it. Though I'm way too lazy to change it back. I therefore urge whoever changed it in the first place to please change it back.

I've added the colors. Now moderators and admins can actually be distinguished and it's just easier to spot the staff members. The colors are also a norm on most forums.
