The one thing I like to know is, why do you always want to get killed in any RPG game?

You don't play RPGs to amass personal fame and fortune. You play RPGs to see how far you get, and when you die it had better be awesome. After all, every great hero has their death scene. Even though Beowulf lived into his senior years, he still died fighting an epic dragon. Note that nobody talks about how Aragorn died, because it was of old age.

Xiao: d20 isn't my favorite, either. On the side, I occasionally work on a homebrew post-apocalyptic setting (utilizing primarily d6) simply because the rules don't make sense to me. Mutants and Masterminds, by the same makers of Blue Rose and also a d20 system, is great, though. I've never tried it outside a superhero setting, but I imagine it would still rock.

The problem I have with Blue Rose is that it lacks grit. I don't know if the Arcanum community could get into it, since it is so starkly contrasted against our cynical attitudes. It's kinda naive in a way that makes it difficult to formulate a complex and compelling plot. For generic good vs. evil Star Wars style action, though, it serves its purpose.

That's true, and right. I died once at a high level for instanced by a rampaging Shoggoth, trying to defend a Player, while she was heavily wounded. Now that was a death in the campaign of BRP Call of Cthulu you don’t forgot that easily.

I only thing that I know about Blue Rose is that it is a romantic RPG.

    Blue Rose

    Wikipedia Article lists the following:

    1)
I presume people spend their gaming sessions writing embarrassing love poems to each other and plot to overthrow the patriarchy?

    2)
The setting is a politically correct gynocracy, whodathunkit?

    3)
Yup, catering to the furries and vegans as well.

    4) The cover above is horrendously gay.

    5)
This game was written by social workers on the far left, wasn't it?

Now that I saw this happy game, I prefer the dark and gritty campaign called Call of Cthulhu, where your permanent insanity and totally destruction are not far away. I prefer the campaigns called L5R, Oriental Adventures, d20 Modern, d20 Apocalypse, D&D (3.0, 3.5), AD&D, or MERP as well.(Ah...MERP...the good old days.)

BTW: I used the point-buy system, are these stats for a level 5 character correct?

    Abilities:

    Strength: 10
    Dexterity: 16
    Constitution: 10
    Intelligence: 10
    Wisdom: 13
    Charisma: 13

How many points were you using? It seems correct for a 25 point buy, assuming you didn't spend the extra ability point you received at level 4 on Dexterity.

    I used for level 1:

    10 points for Dexterity = 16

2 points each for Strength, Con, and Int = 10

    5 points for Wisdom = 13

    4 points for Charisma = 12

I could have done that, but I think that it would be better that I have a point in Charisma.

Right, so a 25 point build it is. I'm somewhat surprised you spent your extra ability on point on Charisma, since an increase from 12 to 13 is practically worthless. The powergamer in me would have bought 15 Dex at level 1 and used the extra point to buy 16 at level 4... but you do as you wish.

My character, also at level 5:

    Str: 14

    Dex: 12

    Con: 14

    Int: 12

    Wis: 10

    Cha: 12

    Fairly balanced I'd say.

You forget something, Grakelin. I am a cynical bitch who enjoys fucking with the expectations of others. I can assure you, in MY Aldis, all the cheery-sweer happy-happy barely even covers the surface of the corruption and decay underneath. :D I neglected to warn my first Blue Rose group of this. The poor bastards.

Perhaps I will put the extra point in Dexterity if I want to powergame.

What for kind of Base Class have this character: Tough or a Strong Hero?

I still don't believe you. I suspect that all the Twillight-bashing coming from you is merely a smokescreen to hide the bleeding heart pinko socialist commie radical feminazi vegan that is the TRUE Caity.

To be honest, if you want to play a fantasy game using the d20 system which involves a gritty world where rights must be wronged, D&D is the flawed, but obvious, choice. Alternatively, you can use something else by Green Ronin.

Such as True20, which Blue Rose is now simply a setting of.

A Song of Ice and Fire, a stock fantasy by George R. R. Martin (I've never read this series, but I've read G R R Martin from the 70s and he was decent back then).

Or the upcoming Dragon Age RPG

If you're playing Blue Rose, you're playing what is now a setting for the True20 system. That means you're totally digging the whole bunny fantasy thing (bad example, Watership Down was way less naive than this).

I just can't see an interesting political intrigue plot forming out of Blue Rose. Anything short of cobmat campaign seems off centre, to be honest.

    4) Member of the Rip Van Team

    5) Born in Keflavik, Iceland, he received his military training at the American military base there*.

    7) Power Axe + basic military gear.

    8 ) 32

    9) Strong Hero

    10) Skills? What class skills do I have?

    11) What feats are available to me?

*It's officially closed, but let's fuck with reality a bit.

Ooooh, it's a Green Ronin game! I have an account with them. Time to start buying stuff!

I mainly stick with Blue Rose because it came before True20 and I only got True20 fairly recently, and I don't particularly want to change all the nasty shit I wrote up for the system to the 'updated' version.

Besides, I am firmly of the belief that no country could possibly be as shiny, happy and corruption-free as Aldis. Add to that the fact that Jarzon and Kern are just next door... 'Sides, I usually just use the rules and set my games in another world entirely.

    Class Features
The following are class features of the Strong hero.
    Talents
At 1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th, and 9th level, the Strong hero selects a talent from the following talent trees. Some trees have a set order that must be followed, while others provide a list to choose from. As long as the hero qualifies, he or she can select freely from any and all talent trees. No talent can be selected more than once unless expressly indicated.

    Extreme Effort Talent Tree
A Strong hero can push him or herself to make an extreme effort. The effort must relate either to a Strength check or a Strength-based skill check. You must decide to use this ability before making the check.
Extreme Effort: The effort requires a full-round action and provides a +2 bonus on the check.
Improved Extreme Effort: The effort requires a full-round action and provides a +2 bonus that stacks with the bonus provided by extreme effort (+4 total).
    Prerequisite: Extreme effort.
Advanced Extreme Effort: The effort requires a full-round action and provides a +2 bonus that stacks with the bonuses provided by extreme effort and improved extreme effort (+6 total).
Prerequisites: Extreme effort, improved extreme effort.

    Ignore Hardness Talent Tree
The Strong hero has an innate talent for finding weaknesses in objects. This allows a Strong hero to ignore some of an object’s hardness when making a melee attack to break it.
Ignore Hardness: The Strong hero ignores 2 points of an object’s hardness.
Improved Ignore Hardness: The Strong hero ignores 2 additional points of an object’s hardness (for a total of 4).
    Prerequisite: Ignore hardness.
Advanced Ignore Hardness: The Strong hero ignores 2 additional points of an object’s hardness (for a total of 6).

Animal Affinity, Archaic Weapons Proficiency, Athletic, Blind-Fight, Brawl, Cleave, Combat Martial Arts, Combat Reflexes, Great Cleave, Improved Brawl, Improved Combat Martial Arts, Power Attack, Weapon Focus.

Also, the starting occupation selected can provide additional class skills to choose from.

    That means:
    Military
Military covers any of the branches of the armed forces, including army, navy, air force, and marines, as well as the various elite training units such as Seals, Rangers, and Special Forces.

    Prerequisite: Age 18+.

All right, now we only need six more people to role-play this campaign, and then if Grakelin is prepared as a DM we are getting started.

Grakelin: what do you think that they can start with one or two levels in an Advanced Class, or is it only making everything unnecessary difficult? Example: Fast Hero 3 / Infiltrator 2

    Now who’s in?
