Tim Cain is staying with Obsidian according to Duck and Cover (more importantly reported two days ago on Chris Avellone's twitter which won't link correctly here) - anyone got more info on this? Maybe this should be in the news section?

That's pretty. But doesn't he work there only as Senior Programmer? Which means that he is one of many senior programmers who are working there, thus his ideas and wishes for new Fallout game won't necessarily come true. So this new game is going to suck anyway.

But I really hope that I'm wrong this time...

Still some input is better than no input, hopefully when a new Fallout game comes along his mark will show.

Yeah, kinda like the input the factory worker has on what your car looks like. :)

I think it would be a pretty sound investment for them. Arcanum for an old game still has a lot of interest, almost weekly there's a new member here asking questions about it. It would also bridge the gap between TES and Fallout with its fantastical and technological setting. Really there's nothing stopping them.

I guess the only thing I'd be concerned about if Bethesda made it would be that it was dumbed down too much, particularly in regards to the million and one things you can make using technology in the original. Saying that, even if it was dumbed down I'm sure I'd still enjoy it. Here's to hoping.

He was one because he was only temporarly there and helped out on an already existing project.

In future projects we can now most likely excpect him to be a Lead if not directly upped to a Project Director role. Similiar to what Sawyer does.

(Also according the car analogy @Grankelin is untrue. From the WillOoi interview:
Quote:
The group is very open to design suggestions from all of its members, and they hold weekly meetings where the game is played and anyone can suggest changes to gameplay, anything from new abilities to UI to voice over.
)

Oh yeah, the future projects... No wait, they are gonna kick out all the current Technical and Project directors from their positions, just so Tim, who just started working there, could replace them. That's just gonna happen. RIGHT NOW. :)

So it also means, that if Tim has some (for him great) idea for the game, most of the team members must vote for it, otherwise, the idea cannot be realized in the game. So if Tim wants to have, for example, a gay marriage in the game, but most of the team members are against it, it won't be put into the game. Same thing in reverse, if someone brings some idea that Tim doesn't like, but most of the team members are gonna vote for it, then it's gonna be in the game.

No, this game from future isn't going to be "his" game anymore, with such a big company and with so many people in the team. What a shame.

?

Yes, they just take different roles on different projects. A PD may take the role of a Lead. Obsidian is ALWAYS working on multiple projects and this happened multiple times in the past too.

And again, in future projects. NOT NOW.

That's my whole fucking point. What are you even sarcastic about?

And the whole South Park bit is even contridactory and not reality. It's not a majority decision. It's a decision by the Lead who's responisble for it. Not to mention everyone at Obsidian has shitloads of respect for Cain.

Of course that they're working on a multiple projects at same time. But it doesn't mean that Tim gets some major role in the development of any of those projects. They're currently working on some new Fallout sequel, right? But nothing's going to change because Tim just started to work there full-time, nor because he is the almighty creator of the original Fallout series, as everything's already well planned, roles are assigned, and works are in the progress.

It also doesn't mean that he is going to be somehow privileged there. He worked there as senior programmer, and that's pretty shitty job for a man with such amount of experience. It doesn't matter that it was just a temp job. They could assign him a way better job. They could also ask/convince him to work on Fallout: NV before, when he worked at Carbine Studios.

But he had a pretty good job there, as Design Director, so they made the game without him, as they couldn't (or didn't want to) give him a similar (in way of importance) role in the development. But that's just my opinion.

So if it's not going to be a new Fallout sequel, then what is it going to be? Perhaps, Arcanum 2? Oh wait, but the Arcanum IP is owned by Activision, right?

Then it isn't going to be Arcanum 2 either, but then I, and probably most of the people here, don't care about these future projects he's going to work on... unless Tim makes a brand new game - with guns, prostitution and gay marriages...

So really "Titan" Activision-Blizzard's new secret MMO is really going to be Arcanum MMO? That is so cool and I cannot wait.

Don't know anything about official game. But there is definitely going to be a fan-made Arcanum MMO. There are already registered some domains for it's websites, e.g www.arcanum2.com and www.arcanum-universe.com.

If they announce they're working on such a project, and the words "Oblivion" or "Like Fallout 3" are utilized, then I'm pulling one of those missing cold-war nukes out from under my bed, and obliterating that office.

I can understand not being an optimist about this entire scenario, but can you not whine all over everything? It turns my mild "why am I reading this drivel?" headache into a migraine when I look at the forums.

Yeah yeah, that's really funny, but let's pretend that I'm a old asian immigrant who never had English dictionary in his hands, and please stop reminding me that my English sucks hard.

What about you, can you ban me or not? :/

Why would you come here if you're an old asian man who's never held an English dictionary?

You already know I can't (and never could) if you've seen my user name while I'm signed in.

You know why that sentence I wrote is funny? It's grammatically correct. To make it more comprehensible, I suppose I could add stuff in;

Buffalo buffalloes whom other Buffalo buffaloes buffalo, are buffaloed by Buffalo buffaloes.

Got it? No?

Buffalo (New York) buffaloes whom other Buffalo buffaloes bully, are bullied by Buffalo buffaloes.

I could feasibly add buffalo after Buffalo and it would still make sense.

There's your english lesson. You could just stop coming here unless you want closure. If anyone who could ban you cared enough, they would.

1. No

2. No, they couldn't. What job? He couldn't exactly just replace a lead in a running project. Especially on a temp job. Changing Leads isn't exactly great management. So, he gets a senior role. Done. That isn't a shitty job. That was the job that made logistically sense.

3. No, they couldn't. Tim was still high on Wildstar. Why should he have left Carabine at the time? The only reason he left half a year ago was because he felt the MMO had enough of his input.

Seriously dude, what makes you so sure about what you say when you actually know nothing about the whole current situation?

But, you know what? Let's leave that discussion and wait for the result.

I'm coming back then and rub it in your face. 0:-) Otherwise you may do the same.
