okay, im new, so how is the ranking laid out on this forum?

If you want to spam just to get your ranks high, you'll be warned.

 

Well, in general, once you reach a certain amount of posts, that little rank under your name will change.

And if you're so new, I suggest you read the FAQ that's stuck to the top of the General board. Follow the rules there, and you shouldn't have any problems.

Forget about rankings. It's quality over quantity, man - some of the best posters on T-A have a few hundred posts; there are some jackasses who have over a thousand posts, the vast majority of which consist of absolute shite. Then there's the occasional person that might have both, like our esteemed friend Jar here. But it's been a long time since you could post a celebratory thread without getting the living shite flamed out of you :s ...

Oh, by the way, the ranking thresholds are something like this: 5, 10, 25, 50, 100, 250, 400, 800 (maybe one before that?), 1000, 1500, 2000...but if you've been a good boy/girl, you can apply for a custom avatar and rank at 1000. Good luck .

 

only, once you've hit 100, don't ask for an avatar. cuz then you won't get one. and just in case the FAQ is vague and confusing (it's not, but hey, let's give you the benefit of the doubt), follow these rules:

do not gravedig. ever. for any reason.

do not flame, troll, or otherwise waste our time.

be polite, except to Wolf, cuz he sucks.

do not spam to get your post count up.

do not make use of the one smilie post.

do not ask for explanations of inside jokes. if you don't understand why something's funny, use that handy search button at the top of your screen. it's not there to look pretty.

finally, and most importantly,


don't be stupid.

Gravedigging can be fun....but our mods seem to have some sort of....problem with the past.

I remember when I did that...got the good ole can of spam avatar...
