Backrounds help

I created some backrounds but I don't know where to find the numbers of items.Please help.

 

The item numbers can be found from mes/description.mes in arcanum3.dat

I might create a program that makes background creation easier as soon as I get my script editor done :smile:

All you need for background creation is 3 files, and the patience to add in lot's of {}'s...

 

Is there some maximum number of backrounds you can have?Because I created two backrounds after creating the first I checked and it worked(partly)and then I created the second and checked the game crashed and I think I made everything right.
And my first works partly because the stats don't change and my effect file line doesn't seem wrong.

P.S.I also have the +42 backrounds "mod"(the version which doesn't add +2 st,dx)

 

I had this problem too. Turns out that my description of the background was too large. Shame, because I thought it was quite a funny one. Oh well.

So yeah, check the size of your background description. Cut it down if you can, that should fix your problem.

 

Thanks for trying Jarinor but my problem was that effect lines are ignored over 400 and sometimes even crashes.
